/Это отсюда. Там и описание и фотки этих ребят.../“I dived this cave a number of times and with proper equipment and gas,” well-known Maldives diving instructor Shaff Naeem has commented. “The entrance is between 55 and 58m. The cave goes inside to approximately 100m and forks and goes deeper.
“Not a dive to be done on normal air or without experience in technical diving or cave training.”
Есть и мнение/предположение... что их могло затащить вглубь пещеры течением...
I am a local guide from Maldives with over 9000 dives. It’s down at the channel mouth. Dhevanakandu - Vaavu Atoll. Channel mouth at 30m. Cave at 55-60m. I have been there to 42m on a clear day, enough to see it from a distance. Yesterday was not the kind of day to go to this point specifically to this depth. Apparently they were a research group on an expedition. Maldives is not a place for deep technical dives. Specially during the stormy season. Currents and weather are unpredictable. Which is why max dive depth is capped at 30m specially for guests. Many foreign professionals struggle in currents when in Maldives, also to understand how complex currents work here.
Depending on the ocean current there can be suction force pulling a person in to the cave and could be difficult to come out causing them to burn through their air and not being able to reach surface in time. Dead bodies could be inside the cave or drifted to unknown depths. It’s highly important even if it was a research dive to take preventive measures. We all must learn from this tragedy.
I reckon the current would have been out going yesterday in the channel. And it will be like an underwater waterfall as the water slide down from the channel mouth. Making it difficult for one to climb above the channel mouth once submerged below the channel mouth at 30m. I wish strength and peace for everyone who suffered loss from this tragedy. Dive safe and cautiously without pushing to extreme limits. Plan clear logistics when conducting research. Consider words of local dive guides when you conduct such research. Dive safe.
