Today Cyberware, a start-up company from Sweden has introduced it's prototype of a new Virtual Dive Mask dedicated to underwater video- and photographers. The mask features an integrated LCD located between two pieces of pressure proof, hot tempered glass together with a small Bluetooth interface and an accessible battery compartment. The device is rated to a maximum diving depth of 70m. Also included in the set is a Bluetooth chip video module which can be plugged into a standard video port. Most prosumer digital cameras today feature a video out. If your housing offers enough space to host the Bluetooth video plug this device will make it possible to have a real-time, wireless HUD (Head Up Display) through your camera without having to look at viewfinder or the camera's LCD. To assist divers with their ongoing struggle against sunlight while reviewing LCDs in tropic regions, Cyberware offers an additional black plastic shade. It can be easily clipped in front of the mask. That way the underwater photographer has an ONLY VR (Virtual Reality) view in his mask. This feature may subsidize the Olympus sunshine LCD just introduced on CeBIT. According to Cyberware, Virtual Dive Mask and video Bluetooth module will be available during July. We were promised to receive a prototype and cannot wait to report on our first tests with this ground breaking innovation. *THIS WAS OUR APRIL FOOL*
